There are many ways to classify faucets.Usually they can be classified according to usage scenario,installation method,number of mounting holes,cartridge type,water outlet temperature,spout type,material of faucet body etc.As per the usage scenario,it can be classified into home use and commercial use.Faucets used at home focus on beauty,durability and safety.Home use faucets can be classified into kitchen faucets and bathroom faucets as per the places they are used.Generally bathroom faucets include basin faucets,bidet faucets,shower or bathtub faucets etc.Commercial use faucets are generally used in public places such as restaurants,hospitals,station,airport etc.These faucets require high reliability and long lifetime.Some of them even have special requirements on outlet flow rate,operation method,anti-destroyed properties etc.For example delay faucets,sensor faucets,urinal flusher,toilet flusher used in public places such as factories,schools,stations,service areas,parks etc.;kitchen faucets used in large catering companies require large flow,flexible and convenient use,faucets used in hospitals generally can be controlled by elbows,foot pedals,infrared induction;Faucets on high-speed trains and airplanes require small size,high reliability,and low flow rate.Faucets used in prisons are special and must be difficult to damage and disassemble etc.

1.There are many ways to install the faucet.Generally the way installed on the countertop or basin called the deck mounted type,the way installed on or in the wall called wall mounted or concealed type,the way installed directly on the floor called floor-standing type. 

2.According to the number of holes installed,generally the faucets are classified into:single hole,double-hole and three-hole.The diameter of a single hole is generallyØ35,double-hole is generallyØ35,and the hole distance is 4" or 8".The diameter of three-hole faucet is generallyØ35,and the hole distance between two adjacent holes is 4".   

3.There are many ways to control the faucet switch, generally a cartridge or a solenoid valve is used. According to the type of cartridge, it can be classified into three categories: slow-open, quick-open and induction. Generally slow-open faucets use a slow-open cartridge, and we need to rotate the handle several circles to fully open the cartridge. Quick-open faucets generally use a ceramic cartridge or a control method similar to a ball valve to open and close the cartridge. Sensor faucets generally use infrared, laser and other induction methods to open and close the faucet by driving solenoid valves or ceramic valve cores. 

4.According to the outlet temperature, faucets can generally be classified into five categories: single control faucet, hot and cold mixer, multiple temperature faucets, thermostatic faucets and instant heating faucets. Single-control faucets are usually connected to municipal water supply, water heaters, refrigerators or water purifiers to provide a single outlet of normal temperature water, hot water, ice water or purified water. Hot and cold mixer generally have two water inlets, it provides a suitable water temperature by mixing the cold water and hot water in the faucet cavity which controlled by two cartridges or a single ceramic cartridge. There are also some special kitchen faucets in the market that provide a variety of water outlets, such as kitchen faucets with mixed water + purified water, mixed water + hot water + ice water + sparkling water + purified water. The instant heating faucet is a faucet that heats the entering water to a suitable temperature by heating the coils. It suits for places where there is a demand for hot water but no hot water supply. 

5.There are many types of water outlets such as divertors,bubblers,multi-function bubblers,sprayers,multi-function sprayers,as well as concealed,adjustable,water-saving,large-flow,and with switches etc.If the water outlet has a switch,a check valve must be installed at the end of the water inlet.Otherwise,hot and cold water will mix in the faucet cavity and affect the normal temperature of the shower faucet. 

6.Faucets can also be classified according to the material of faucet body.The price of faucets vary greatly depends on different materials of the faucet body.The main material currently used to produce faucets are:plastic,zinc alloy,stainless steel,brass,ceramic or a mixture of the above materials.Plastic faucets are cheap and have large production,but their durability is poor and usually they are suitable for rental houses or less developed areas.The zinc faucet can be durable if the faucet body does not contact with water directly,but if the zinc body is in direct contact with water,it will lead to harm to human's health because the metal elements in zinc alloy faucet will dissolve in water.The faucets made of stainless steel do not contain heavy metals such as lead and zinc no matter it is precision casting or welded.It is not only durable but also a relatively environment friendly and healthy material.Traditionally the faucet body is made of brass,it the brass is lead-free or dezincification resistant brass,it will be healthier and more environment friendly.
